Time Warner, NFL are Dug In

By William Pack -- San Antonio Express-News, 10/31/2007

With only three weeks remaining before the NFL Network's first game is broadcast, the network's impasse with Time Warner Cable is getting thornier.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will come to New Braunfels on Friday to promote the network and a partnership involving GVTC Communications, which competes in the area with Time Warner. Jones chairs the NFL Network Committee for the league's owners, who took a look at the network's growth last week.

Meanwhile, within days of rejecting a Time Warner proposal that could have enabled the NFL to broadcast games for a fee, the network was endorsing calls by elected officials from El Paso to Fort Worth and San Antonio to have the government intervene in the dispute.
